Russian Civil-Military Relations: Putin’s Legacy by Thomas Gomart has just been published by the Carnegie Endowment. I’ve not read it yet but I’ve heard good things about it. This is an area of research which once interested me greatly–an interest which Russia’s recent war with Georgia has rekindled. Thomas was a research fellow in the War Studies department a few years ago. We talked a lot then about the issue. We’ve lost touch since he returned to France. I look forward to reading his analysis.
